Comparison Chart

Cone Clutch Single Plate Clutch
1 In a Cone Clutch, a less axial force is required to get a particular normal force. In a Single Plate Clutch, a large axial force is required to get the same normal force compared to a cone clutch
2 In a Cone Clutch fewer chances of slip between the mating surfaces. So, almost 100% transfer of torque is guaranteed. In Single Plate Clutch Due to slip between mating surfaces, less torque is transmitted compared to cone clutch.
3 In a Cone Clutch Disengagement of clutch becomes difficult if the cone angle is less than 20°. In Single Plate Clutch this type of problem will not arise, since the surface of the clutch plate is flat.
4 The capacity of torque transmission is high. The capacity of torque transmission is less.
